Week 5

Childen can be “smart” in many ways.  Howard Gardner a professor in Harvard university came up with eight basic multiple intelligences. Which are as follows: Linguistic, logical-mathematical, musical, spatial, bodily-kinestetic, interpersonal, intrapersonal, and naturalistic. These eight multiple intelligences are intelligences that children will have. Not all children are logical-mathematical smart which is often the used to label a child as being smart. Children have many ways of being smart, and it is the responsibility of the educators to enable these children to shine in his/her own way. some children are good at logic yet other shine through music. If teachers would include multiple ways of teaching their students more children would be able to learn and process information.
Using multiple intelligences in the classroom can be accomplished by having a variety of activities and learning methods. In this way, the teacher can reach all the students by tapping in to his/her type of intelligence. For example, learning about a certain area of science can be done firstly through reading, then through song and finally through making a project. In this way children of all kinds of intelligence can use their abilities to learn and understand the lesson.
